The following Sunday Liverpool won 4:2 against Chelsea at Anfield. The match had a 4:00 PM kick off time. Liverpool led 2:1 at half time thanks to two goals from Patrik Berger. Gianfranco Zola scored for Chelsea. Berger completed his hat trick in the second half and Robbie Fowler added a fourth. Chelsea got a late consolation goal from a penalty converted by Gus Poyet. The result left Liverpool in 6th position in the Premier League on 19 points after 9 matches.
