There was no official programme issued for this match. In January 2004 a previously unheard of issue was listed on eBay with the following description:-

'... very rare programme from the match in the European Cup Winners Cup between Ferencvaros Budapest and Liverpool Football Club - played on November 5 in 1974. This is an issue from the Ferencvaros Supporter Andras Pinter (no official programme) with a print run from 50 copies - given out only for members of the Hajra Fradi Supporters Club Veszprem to all the matches in the European competitions between 1974 and 1976'.

Another copy of this programme was listed in May 2004. Two more copies were listed in 2009 from a seller in Germany. Subsequently, a number of copies have surfaced at auctions. We would be interested in further information about this issue.

We would also be interested in information on any newspaper or magazine issued in Hungary that previewed this match.

The following Saturday Liverpool lost 3:1 to 20th placed Arsenal at Anfield. Alan Ball gave Arsenal a half time lead. Ray Kennedy scored for Liverpool against his old club in the second half but another goal from Ball, and a third from Liam Brady, sealed the points for Arsenal. The result left Liverpool in 2nd position in the First Division on 21 points after 16 matches; 1 point behind Manchester City who had played a match more. Liverpool were enduring a poor run of results. The following week they were eliminated from the League Cup by Middleborough losing a 4th round match 1:0 at Anfield. They did not get back to winning ways in the league until the middle of December. Liverpool finished the season in 3rd position on 51 points; 2 points behind champions Derby County and the same number as 2nd placed Ipswich Town. The FA Cup had ended in the 4th round, losing 1:0 to Ipswich Town at Portman Road. In August Liverpool had won the Charity Shield 6-5 on penalties against Leeds United at Wembley after the match had finished 1:1. This was the first Charity Shield to be played at Wembley. Bill Shankly led the team out for the last time. Kevin Keegan and Billy Bremner were sent off in the second half.
