The following Saturday Liverpool won 1:0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield. Steve Heighway scored the only goal of the match in the first half. The result left Liverpool in 4th position in the First Division on 19 points after 15 matches; 7 points behind leaders Leeds United. Liverpool finished in 2nd position in the First Division on 57 points; 5 points behind champions Leeds United. They only lost one league match from the end of October until early April. Liverpool won the FA Cup Final 3:0 against Newcastle United at Wembley. In the League Cup, they lost 1:0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in the 5th round. In July, Bill Shankly resigned as manager and was replaced by Bob Paisley.
