The programme was issued as a supplement to the club's INTERclub magazine. A reproduction of the programme was issued with the LFC magazine for the 19th February 2008 (issue 289). The biggest difference from the original is that it is considerably smaller - 21.5 x 14 cm - compared to the original 24 x 16.5 cm.

The European Cup Semi Final second leg was Liverpool's last match of the 1964-65 season and brought to an end their first campaign in European competition. In the First Division, Liverpool finished the season in 7th position on 44 points, 17 points behind champions Manchester United. Liverpool won the FA Cup for the first time in their history 2:1 after extra time against Leeds United at Wembley. Liverpool did not participate in the League Cup. In August, Liverpool had drawn 2:2 with West Ham United at Anfield in the Charity Shield. Both clubs shared the trophy for six months.
