On the following Sunday, Liverpool lost 3:2 to West Ham United at the London Stadium. The match had a 4:30 PM kick-off time. The home side took an early lead though an own goal by Allison. Trent Alexander-Arnold equalised before half-time. Goals by Pablo Fornals and Kurt Zouma restored West Ham United's advantage. Substitute Divock Origi scored a late second goal for Liverpool but it was not enough as they fell to their first defeat of the season.
