On the following Saturday Liverpool won 4:1 against Cardiff City at Anfield. Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool an early lead. Sadio Mane doubled the advantage midway through the second half. Callum Paterson pulled one back for the visitors (the first league goal Liverpool had conceded at Anfield since February). Late goals from substitute Xherdan Shaqiri - his first for the club - and a second in the match from Mane gave Liverpool a comfortable victory. The result maintained Liverpool's unbeaten start to the League and left them in 1st place in the Premier League table on 26 points after 10 matches, 3 points ahead of Manchester City who had played a match less.
