Seven days later Liverpool drew 4:4 again - this time with fourth placed Arsenal in the league at Anfield. The match had an 8:00 PM kick off time. Andrey Arshavin gave Arsenal a half time lead. Fernando Torres equalised early in the second half and Yossi Benayoun put Liverpool in front soon after. Two more goals in quick succession from Arshavin gave Arsenal the advantage again. Torres equalised with his second goal of the match. In the last minute, Arshavin scored his fourth goal but Benayoun replied immediately with his second goal of the match to rescue a point for Liverpool. The last time a player scored four goals against Liverpool in the league at Anfield was on 7th December 1946 when Dennis Westcott scored four for Wolves in a 5-1 victory. The result left Liverpool in 1st position in the Premier League on 71 points after 33 matches; level on points with Manchester United who had 2 matches in hand. Liverpool finished the season in 2nd position on 86 points; 4 points behind champions Manchester United. Liverpool lost 1:0 at Goodison Park to Everton in the 4th round of the FA Cup after a 1-1 draw at Anfield. The League Cup run also ended in the 4th Round with a 4:2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
