The following Sunday Liverpool won 1:0 against Manchester City at Anfield. The match had a 4:00 PM kick-off time. Fernando Torres scored the only goal in the second half - equalling the club record set by Roger Hunt of scoring in eight home league matches in a row. The result left Liverpool in 4th position in the Premier League on 73 points after 37 matches; 11 points behind leaders Manchester United. Liverpool finished the season in 4th position on 76 points; 11 points behind champions Manchester United. Liverpool lost 2:1 at Anfield to Barnsley in the 5th round of the FA Cup. The League Cup run had also ended in the 5th Round with a 2:0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
