The following Sunday Liverpool lost 2:1 to Birmingham City at St. Andrews. The match had a 4:05 PM kick-off time. Stephen Clemence gave Birmingham a half time lead. Clinton Morrison doubled their advantage in the second half. Micheal Owen reduced the arrears but Liverpool fell to their seventh league defeat of the season. The result left Liverpool in 7th position in the Premier League on 43 points after 28 matches.
